DESCRIPTION:Robert Fieseler, a local author and activist, will discuss “
 Thomas Paine and the Value of Dissent,” at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 16, a
 t the Wagner Library, 6646 Riverside Drive, Metairie This event is free o
 f charge and open to the public. It occurs as part of the regularly schedu
 led meeting of the New Orleans Secular Humanist Association.Paine&#039;s C
 ommon Sense was published in Jan 1776 and is the precursor to Jefferson&
 #039;s Declaration of Independence. Fieseler says he like to talk about th
 e wider lens of Thomas Paine and the concept e of what it means to be a &q
 uot;dissenter&quot; against tyranny within the framework of American patri
 otism. In the talk, Fieseler says he&#039;ll include “some examples of 
 queer history and memory work as acts of resistance/protest, but I&#039;m 
 also thinking of some Civil Rights movement examples to demonstrate linea
