Program Description

Event Details

Great literature conveys essential truths about the human experience, including the revelation that nobody likes you when you're twenty-three. Library staff member Christie Cognevich, PhD, will discuss how to analyze and interpret lyrics like poetry. Come celebrate iconic pop-punk bands like blink-182, Jimmy Eat World, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Relient K, and others. This event is free of charge and is open to the public. There is no registration.

Cognevich has an MA in English literature from the University of New Orleans and a PhD in English literature from Louisiana State University. Additionally, she has an MFA in creative writing from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and is the author of several YA non-fiction books. She has met Tom DeLonge of blink-182 three times, and he held her UNO graduation cap and said finishing her master's thesis was “so cool.”
