Event Details

The East Bank Regional Library, located at 4747 W. Napoleon, Metairie, will host the Eighth Edition of Saturday Scrabble from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 31. 

The event is a fully rated seven game North American Scrabble Player’s Association tournament, plus a school Scrabble tournament. A three-game round-robin newcomer event will be available for interested library patrons from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Clocks in all events start at 9:30 a.m. Other schedule and format information:

  • Main event – seven games followed by an awards ceremony. Thirty-minute lunch break after round three.
  • School Scrabble – number of games based on number of teams.
  • Newcomer event – maximum of here games followed by open play.

Divisions/Pairings:

  • NWL2023 Divisions with eight players based on ratings. Double challenge.
  • CSW2024 Division with a minimum of four players. Five-point per word challenge.
  • Minimum of six players for each division. Round Robin, King of the Hill, and Gibonizing will be used.
  • Division and pairings are subject to the director’s discretion.

Newcomer's Event

  • 9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
  • No entry fee.
  • No clocks. 45 minutes max each game.
  • Games involve one person playing one opponent.
  • Maximum three games followed by presentation of certificates.

Other Information

  • Entries for the main event must be received by May 28. No walk-ins for the Main Event. Players must bring boards, tiles, clocks and score sheets.
  • Participating players much be a member of NASPA in order to play in the Main Event. For Registration: www.scrabbleplyers.org.
  • Lunch – the lunch window is 30 minutes. Game Four clocks will start promptly at 1 p.m. There is no time for tournament players to leave the facility for lunch.
