Event Details
In this educational presentation, author and screenwriter Ashley N. Hudson will
explore the fundamental differences between writing for the screen and writing for the
page. Using her original screenplay of The Bridge alongside its novel adaptation, she will
walk through the creative, structural, and emotional shifts required when transforming a
story from a visual medium into literary form.
Participants will gain insight into how dialogue, pacing, character development,
internal thought, and symbolism function differently in screenwriting versus novel
writing. Through specific comparisons between the screenplay and the novel, she will
demonstrate how scenes were reshaped, expanded, or reimagined in order to fully inhabit
the interior world of the protagonist.
This presentation offers a behind the scenes look at adaptation in reverse: from
screenplay to novel, and invites conversation about craft, process, and the choices that
shape how a story is experienced.
Two signed copies of The Bridge will be given away during the event.
