Program Description

Event Details

The New Neighbor Project, in conjunction with the Jefferson Parish Library, will offer HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) sessions from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Mondays, at the Rosedale Library, 4036 Jefferson Highway, Jefferson.

This event is free of charge and is open to the public.

The HiSET is designed for individuals who did not complete high school but want to earn an HSE credential.

The HiSET is a standardized exam that demonstrates an individual's knowledge and skills equivalent to a high school graduate. It serves as an alternative to a traditional high school diploma and can be used to earn a high school equivalency credential in 26 states and five U.S. territories.

The HiSET covers five subject areas: Language Arts – Reading, Language Arts – Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

Most questions are multiple-choice, with the Language Arts – Writing section also including an essay prompt.

Successfully passing the HiSET earns an individual a high school equivalency credential, which is generally recognized as equivalent to a high school diploma.
